Nguyen Xuan Thuc (1762-1827) was born in Quang Phuc district, Khanh Hoa province. Born as Nguyen Xuan Tinh/Tinh[1], he worked as an official in the post of Tien Kham and sent him to Cai team.
When he first joined the army, Nguyen Xuan Thuc was a subordinate of Vo Tanh, was promoted to the position of the front guard in 1796. He made great achievements in capturing Quy Nhon citadel and once joined the army for the Tay Son Dynasty. In 1804, Nguyen Xuan Thuc was promoted to Ky Luc Tran Bien, then moved to Cai Ba Vinh Thanh[2] (belonging to Gia Dinh Thanh). In 1813, he was promoted to the position of Huu Tham Tri of the Ministry of Pictures[3], after that, moved to the position of Huu Tham Tri of the Infantry[4] and was awarded the title "Thuc Thien Hau[5]". In 1814, he was assigned by the king as Hiep Tran Thanh Hoa. In 1816, he had to go home to mourn his father. In 1817, after his father's funeral, he returned to Thanh Hoa town to work as Hiep Tran.
By the year of Minh Menh Nguyen (1820), Nguyen Xuan Thuc was summoned to the scriptures "to prepare to stay in the Kinh with Huu Tham Tri, the army of Binh Quang Huy, to serve Nguyen Tang Dich on official duties in the Ministry...[6]". At the same time, he was assigned to be Son Lang's deputy ambassador to take care of the construction of Thien Tho Tomb - the burial place of King Gia Long and was further assigned by King Minh Menh to Gia Dinh Citadel to take care of work in the Ministry of Houses[7] and the Ministry of Public Works. [8].
In the second year of Minh Menh (1821), Nguyen Xuan Thuc was assigned to examine the exam in Gia Dinh citadel.
In the 6th year of Minh Menh (1825), Nguyen Xuan Thuc was assigned the position of Senior Secretary of the Army[9].
In the 8th year of Minh Menh (1827), his health declined. He offered to resign from his job and returned to his hometown for treatment. Nguyen Xuan Thuc returned to his hometown for a few months before he died, at the age of 65. The Chieu document dated June 2, Minh Menh year 8, recorded that: “Nguyen Xuan Thuc returned from the capital to his hometown, suddenly passed away. Remembrance of previous work is painful. In addition to the usual death allowance, the family now offers a three-hundred-quantity bonus, three trees' brocades, and is given to a servant to look after the grave.
* Architectural structure of the tomb
The tomb of Thuong Thu Nguyen Xuan Thuc has an area of 57.75m2, the front facing east. In front of the grave is the ordination. In the middle of the citadel is the tomb of Thuong Thu Nguyen Xuan Thuc. The tomb has the shape of a kneeling elephant with the lines of the body curving very artistically.

About 100m east of Thuong Thu Nguyen Xuan Thuc's tomb is the grave of his mother - Thuc Nhan Tran Thi Duong. The grave is small in size and is now largely covered by vegetation.
Currently, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ho's family has dedicated a house from Tu Duong as a place to worship Thuong Thu and his mother. Every year, the family celebrates the death anniversary of Thuong Thu Nguyen Xuan Thuc on the 26th day of the 5th lunar month. At present, Mr. Ho's family still keeps 23 edicts granted by Kings Gia Long and Minh Menh (King Gia Long has 05 edicts and King Minh Menh has 18 edicts).
On March 19, 2008, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 703/QD-UBND ranking Tomb - From Thuong Thu Nguyen Xuan Thuc Street as a provincial historical-cultural relic.
