Description

Vo Dong communal house is located in Vo Dong village, Vinh Trung commune, Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province.

Based on the earliest ordination that the communal house can still be preserved, it can be assumed that the communal house was built before 1852. At first, the communal house was built in the Go Dinh area, and moved to the present position in 1930.

Over time, the communal house has been repaired and embellished many times in the years:
- In 1956, major restoration;
- In 1972, major restoration once again;
- In 1995, the communal house was painted and whitewashed a number of construction items.

The communal house has the following overall layout: Nghi Mon, Phong Nha, Dai Dinh, Tien Hien house, and warehouse.

Vo Dong communal house worships Thanh Hoang, Dai Can Quoc Nam Hai, the four quartets, Thien Y A Na, Ngu Hanh ...

The communal house still preserves 09 ordinations bestowed by the Nguyen kings, including:
- Ordaining Tu Duc in the 5th year (1852) granted to Dai Can Quoc Nam Hai;
- Ordaining Tu Duc in the 5th year (1852) to Thien Y A Na;
- Ordaining Tu Duc in the 33rd year (1880) granted to Dai Can Quoc Nam Hai and Thien Y A Na;
- Ordaining Dong Khanh in the 2nd year (1887) bestowed on Dai Can Quoc Nam Hai and Thien Y A Na;
- Ordaining Duy Tan in the 3rd year (1909) granted to the Dai Can Quoc Nam Hai and Thien Y A Na;
- Ordained Khai Dinh in the 2nd year (1917) bestowed on Ngu Hanh;
- Ordaining Khai Dinh in the 9th year (1924) granted to Thien Y A Na;
- Ordaining Khai Dinh in the 9th year (1924) bestowed on Dai Can Quoc Nam Hai;
- Ordained Khai Dinh in the 9th year (1924) bestowed on Ngu Hanh.

Vo Dung communal house turns to the East, is located on a relatively flat land, built in a large land area with an area of 1,170.6m2.

The front is the terrace of the great communal house, connected to the main hall, with an architectural structure in the style of the word (Nhat), consisting of two roofs, on the roof bank decorated with "Dual dragon adoring the day"; The front of the roof system is decorated with scroll pattern and embossed with three Chinese Nom characters: (亭 勇 武 - Vo Dong Dinh), on the top is decorated with double embossed two carp, on both sides decorated with embossed Nghe image, on the upper side. The columns are decorated with dragon patterns.

The main hall has an ancient architectural structure consisting of two roofs, on the roof is decorated with embossed embossed pattern "Two dragons adoring the day", the four corners of the roof are decorated with dragons.

Inside the main hall, there are three compartments; The middle space has two rows of wooden columns, each row has four columns, the other two spaces do not have a column system, instead there are negative columns. The two sides of the altar of the Council hang a wooden urn with parallel sentences written in Han Nom characters.

Every year, Vo Dong communal house holds a festival on the 20th and 21st of the 2nd lunar month. The festival is held according to the traditional rituals of the local people.

The outstanding feature of Vo Dung communal house is that the wooden frame structure system is still preserved relatively intact, the architectural decoration of fine arts, painting, sculpture, natural scenery rich in folklore and vividness. Therefore, village communal house sculptures are also valuable in studying the material and spiritual life of local people.

In 2009, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee ranked Vo Dong communal house as a provincial-level historical and cultural relic in Decision No. 3003/QD-UBND dated November 20, 2009.
