Description
Since ancient times, Khanh Hoa has been loved by many people because of its beautiful natural scenery. Geological and topographic changes have created beautiful bays and the most famous is Nha Trang Bay - a precious crown that nature has bestowed on a tourist city located on the east coast.
According to scientists, the impact of the Himalayan orogeny cycle at the end of the Cenozoic era made the entire ledge of Truong Son mountain, including the Khanh Hoa land, self-elevate, and fracture in many places. The East side of Truong Son becomes a cliff facing the sea. Subsidence also forms deep fault lines running along the coast, making Khanh Hoa's continental shelf very narrow. The Himalayan orogeny cycle has many cycles of coastal sediment deposition, forming many lagoons and bays in the province; including Nha Trang Bay.
Nha Trang Bay has an area of about 249 km2, including the arc of the east coast of Nha Trang city (from Ke Ga cape, Vinh Luong commune) to Cu Hin cape (adjacent to Cam Lam district) with The sea and islands which are connected to the points of Ke Ga, Cu Hin, Hon Cau, Hon Noc, Hon Mun.
Since ancient times, many visitors to Khanh Hoa have been captivated by the beauty of Nha Trang Bay. The long white sandy beach, clear blue water, with 19 large and small, far and near islands, create a beautiful natural picture for the bay. In particular, Hon Tre - the largest island in the bay is like a screen, bringing peace to the coastal city. The geological tectonic process has created mountain peaks that go into the sea, dividing the shore of Nha Trang Bay into 3 small arcs, in which the northern arc is from Ke Ga cape to Hon Chong (La San hill); the second arc is the center of the bay, extending from Hon Chong to Bao Dai Villa (Canh Long mountain); the third arc is to the south of the arc of the bay - a small arc from Bao Dai Villa to Cu Hin cape. At the same time, these are also beautiful scenic spots, helping visitors feel the poetic and brilliant beauty of Nha Trang Bay at dawn and dusk. If Nha Trang is compared as a beauty queen, then Nha Trang Bay is the crown that the Creator has placed on the hair of the lady Nha Trang. Ke Ga cape, Hon Chong - Hon Do, Cau Da Villa are like “pearls” attached to the crown, contributing to embellishing and accreting more the beauty and attraction of Nha Trang Bay.
According to research by scientists, Nha Trang Bay is one of the rare natural models of the system of lagoons and bays in the world because it contains most of the typical ecosystems of tropical seas, including: wetlands, coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass beds, estuary ecosystems, islands and coastal sandbanks, with various ecological functions. Underneath the bay, in addition to rich seafood, there are more than 350 species of shimmering corals, most of which are concentrated in the sea surrounding Hon Mun. In particular, many islands in Nha Trang Bay have bird’s nest, a famous product of Khanh Hoa, from which it has the name “land of Frankincense and Bird’s nest".
And today, the world knows Nha Trang Bay as a scenic spot, the leading beach tourist destination of Vietnam. Coming to Nha Trang Bay, you can not only see the blue sea, white sand, and gold sunshine, but also experience the island tours, water sports games, and scuba diving that have become a feature of Nha Trang tourism. In the bay area, there are also tourism complexes which receive huge investment, and the most famous ones are Vinpearl entertainment resort on Hon Tre island, Hon Tam tourist area...
With natural beauties and rare biodiversity, in 2003, Nha Trang Bay was admitted as the 29th member of the Club of World Beautiful Bays. In 2005, Nha Trang Bay was ranked as a national scenic spot.
