Hon Chong - Hon Do landscapes include: Hon Chong, Hon Do and Nha Trang Bay Assembly Hall. In 1998, the landscape was ranked as a national relic.
- Hon Chong
Hon Chong - Hon Do landscapes were formed by natural tectonics. Those are large and small rocks stacked on top of each other in many layers stretching from the foot of Lasan hill to the East Sea, forming interesting images and beautiful and airtight natural beaches.
The northern rock group is called Hon Chong (Rock of husband) and the smaller, lower rock group in the south is called Hon Vo (Rock of wife). From afar, Hon Vo looks like the image of a faithful wife holding her child, sitting petrified, waiting for her husband who went out to sea and has not returned. Some people imagine it as the scene of a cuddling faithful wife. The Creator cleverly arranged the rocky outcrop into interesting images such as “Heaven’s Gate”, “Stone-Clinging Arm”, “The Kiss of the Sea”, “Male Fairy” ... forming interesting and attractive folk legends with full of humanity.
The legend recorded that there was a very poor fisherman couple who lived on fishing in the sea. The couple often went out to sea to fish to feed their family. One day, a big wind blew their boat here. Big rocks and big waves engulfed the small boat. The waves broke the boat and swept the wife away and the husband rushed to save his wife. But every time he pulled his wife close to the shore, the big waves hit the rocks and pushed the couple away. The husband tries to save his wife, one hand clinging to the cliff, the other holding his beloved wife. But the huge and violent waves engulfed the fisherman couple and they died together. Today, at Hon Chong landscape, there is still a large stone imprinted with the husband’s five-fingered hand, a testament to the passionate, deep and faithful love between husband and wife.
Another legend recorded that in the old days, the earth was full of fragrant flowers and strange herbs, the scenery was magnificent and poetic, so the fairies often came down to the earth to travel. The old male fairies played chess; the young female fairies played together with fun; the giants roamed around to admire the scenery... Every time they came to earth, the young female fairies were free to play and enjoy, taking off their clothes and soaking in the cool springs of water or sunbathing on the beach with the whispering waves... One day, a giant man was looking for beautiful sights, interesting and strange points, accidentally he saw fairies soaking in the clear blue sea. Absorbed in watching, he stumbled and almost fell. While struggling, the giant clung to the rock, making the rocks fall and scatter everywhere. One stone with his fingerprints rolled off and lay on Hon Chong, while the stone with his footprints remained in Suoi Tien (Fairy Stream) (Dien Khanh). Today, the hand-printed stone is still there and has become the proof of nature of the giant man who was bewilderedly in love with the fairies. The beach where the fairies used to bathe is known as Co Tien (Fairy) beach, not far from Hon Chong.
- Hon Do (Red Island)
About 300m to southeast of Hon Chong is Hon Do. The name Hon Do originates from the phenomenon of geological tectonics. Therefore, when the sun rises or sunset falls, the sun’s rays illuminate the red rocks, giving Hon Do a vibrant color like a giant flower floating on the sea. On the small island, there are still pristine and poetic natural scenes. Those are the red colors of the tigon flower, the white color of porcelain flowers on the big cliffs.
Standing at Hon Chong - Hon Do watching Co Tien mountain (Fairy Mountain) located in the North, on the shore of Nha Trang Bay is an interesting thing when you come to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. At sunset and in late afternoon, the golden sunlight embracing Co Tien mountain makes the mountain more brilliant and attractive. Many guests can imagine the image of a young girl full of vitality lying by Nha Trang Bay with straight hair reaching to the sea, chubby face, full youthful breasts and small waist leaning on the beach.
Far in front of Hon Chong is Turtle Island and Yen Island (Salangane Island) as a precursor and highlight for visitors to watch Nha Trang Bay. To the southeast is Hon Tre Island as a wall to keep Nha Trang Bay calm.
- Nha Trang Bay Assembly Hall
In 2005, on the occasion of Nha Trang organizing the Conference of the Club of the most beautiful bays in the world, Khanh Hoa province built Nha Trang Bay Assembly Hall to celebrate the above event. Hon Chong scenic spot was selected as the site of the assembly hall. The Assembly Hall was built and assembled from 15 traditional Hue folk old houses, also known as Ruong houses.
Nha Trang Bay Assembly Hall was built in the direction of looking to the west, sequentially: Tam Quan gate, the main house and two rows of Ta Vu and Huu Vu houses surrounding the fake Son island.
The main house displays some beautiful pictures of Nha Trang Bay and some beautiful bays in the world. In addition, there are unique ethnic musical instruments of the ethnic groups of Vietnam such as: T’rung, K’long put, Khanh Son rock, monochord...
In Ta Vu and Huu Vu houses, there is a number of fine art works created by artisans of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. Besides, there are models and pictures on display introducing typical relics and landscapes of Khanh Hoa, thereby contributing to promoting the image and people of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa to domestic sand foreign friends.
